Mongui Maduro Webinar on Jewish History in Curaçao, November 5th
Ron Gomes Casseres will be the presenter of the 1st Mongui Maduro webinar to be held on November 5th, 2020. Ron ‘s presentation will be based on his recent article published in the magazine American Jewish Archives, entitled: “‘Tocante OGoverno Politico da Naçao Judaica Portugesa de Curaçao’; Leading and Ruling the Jews of Curaçao from 1651 to Today.” It can be downloaded here free of charge.
In this article governance stipulations Haskamoth included in the archive of the Mikve Israel kept at the Mongui Maduro Library are described. Some of these haskamoth were never analyzed before. During the free webinar which is titled ‘Mahamad and Rabbi: from Conflict to Concord’ mr. Gomes Casseres will discuss his findings and answer questions about his research. This webinar is a must for all those who interested in Jewish history and the colonial history of Curacao.
