Mama bo sa

by Caresse Isings

I wrote my first poem at age four, asking about my right to exist. And now that I am turning sixty, I made it into a song: ‘Mama bo sa’ [*]. It is in Dutch and my Native Language Papiamentu.

[*] Caresse’s mother was the author (prose/poetry) Nydia Ecury (Aruba, 1926-Curaçao, 2012)
