Chasing our dreams

by Lusette Verboom
In the year 2005 we bought the completely abandoned and destroyed Landhuis Habaai. As our lease contract at De Rouvilleweg was ending soon, we had to do our upmost to make the landhouse ready to move Gallery Alma Blou as quick as possible. The most necessary repairs were done and for example, we never painted the ceiling.

During these 2 months of lockdown we decided to empty the gallery completely to be able to clean and paint all the exhibition areas. I am so exited to show you all the changes we made.

We invite you to come and have a cup of coffee or tea with us while you enjoy the art of our artists in this new set up.
The gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 – 5.30 hours and on Saterday from 10-2 hours.

Studio Bianca Berends

Studio visit at Bianca Berends / Bianca Berends is a artist completely dedicated to her art. For two years she has been working on her new exhibition at Gallery Alma Blou. Every now and than  as I visited her studio I could enjoy the progress she was making. She loves to talk about new approaches and techniques in her way of painting, but also about how joyful it is to observe children playing at the beach, being free in their own world.  This will also be the theme of her exhibition.

The day of the exhibition is set: Opening Saturday May 30 / This will be a different opening as we have to keep in mind the rules of COVID19 with no more than 25 to 50 people at the same time in a room. We will let you know how we are going to handle this.

Giving back / During this period of lock down Bianca wanted to give back to the community. She started a campaign where the audience could submit a photograph of a loved one to be painted by her. In return this person would donate to the ‘Voedselbank’. In total 20 portraits were done by Bianca and will be on show during the exhibition.

Stay tuned for more information about the exhibition; website Gallery Alma Blou
